Hi, I’m Lisa Miller.
How do you begin painting again after a long hiatus? Start by trusting your abilities and your intuition. Let emotions and memories guide your marks, and set aside self-judgment. When I allowed myself to be creative again, the rest gradually fell into place — though not without moments of fear and doubt.
I chose to begin with abstract work after years of expressionist and impressionist practice. That deliberate shift pushed me out of my comfort zone and became the perfect creative challenge — both demanding and liberating. It was a purposeful, therapeutic decision.
Music often shapes my process; a strong beat or melody helps me find a visual rhythm on the canvas. My aim is simple: to leave viewers with a sense of wonder, joy, and calm.
Bio
Lisa Miller is a Central Pennsylvania–based artist whose abstract, expressionistic acrylics range from bold to quietly subtle. Her work is guided by intuition rather than premeditated design; she lets aesthetic choices and composition evolve naturally. The resulting pieces evoke a calm, immersive emotional response that invites viewers to linger.
Art has been part of Lisa’s life since childhood, but she returned to painting only recently after stepping away to raise two boys. Now an empty nester, she’s embraced this renewed creative chapter, drawing continual inspiration from her family.
All original handmade items are shipped directly from my studio. I’m a small operation and don’t keep large inventory; unless otherwise noted, products are fulfilled by an on‑demand printing partner and shipped from the manufacturer. Print‑on‑demand helps reduce overproduction—thank you for making thoughtful purchasing decisions!
